| Welcome to Rotary International District 7770 !

District Governor Rick Moore and Family 2010-2011 Leg 1 of our annual voyage through the twelve seas (months) of Rotary was completed in grand style! After a relaxing start celebrating the July 4th holiday week, our Clubs have taken to the renewal process completing installations and initiating plans for Rotary Year 2010 – 2011. Early in the month we learned District 7770 was again in the top ten in the world for Annual Giving to the Rotary Foundation. Following are the details of the 2009-2010 campaign provided by Kay Oldhouser-Davis, Annual Giving Chair. $1,067,465.62!!! A MILLION DOLLAR DISTRICT!!! Congratulations on the best year our District has ever had in total contributions to The Rotary Foundation! Great leadership was demonstrated in a majority of the clubs. The Club Presidents, Foundation chairs and their committee chairs, Governor Alan, DRFC Bernie and his District Foundation Committee chairs, Assistant Governors, Foundation Advocates, and other Rotarians worked hard for the Foundation and the year-end results certainly indicate these efforts. Noted below are some of the significant results that were achieved by our district: Ø District 7770 ranked #5 in the world in Annual Giving.
Ø District 7770 ranked #13 in the world in Total Giving. In terms of actual contributions we gave: $773,878.96 to the Annual Programs Fund $264,625.16 to Restricted Giving $28,961.50 to the Permanent Fund For a total giving amount of $1,067,465.62 Ø District 7770 ranked #19 in the world in Per Capita Giving with a per capita of $176.52 Ø District 7770 ranked #23 in the world in giving to the Polio Challenge.
Ø District 7770 ranked #1 in Zone 33 in Annual Giving, Polio Challenge Giving, and Total Giving and ranked #2 in Per Capita Giving. Ø Ø Ø Even more important than the record that was set and the rankings that were achieved is the amount of good in the world the Foundation will be able to do because of the generosity of District 7770 Rotarians. Again, congratulations to all the Rotarians in District 7770. It was a very good year!! On July 24th the Group Study Exchange (GSE) Committee, chaired by Bill Greene – Myrtle Beach Chicora, met & selected PDG Mary Martin – North Myrtle Beach as our GSE Team Leader for the exchange to District 3080 (Northern India) from seven capable candidates. Wayne Cassaday – East Cooper Breakfast will serve as our Alternate Team Leader. | | | Mary | | Wayne |
Pictured below, the GSE Selection Committee takes a break from the action. Seated left to right are Gary Powers, Judy Burnstein & Paula Matthews (all former GSE Team Leaders), Bill Greene – Chair, PDG’s Bernie Riedel & Alan Walters and I:
The GSE Committee will meet on August 7th to choose 5 Team Members with the Ambassadorial Scholarship Committee meeting on August 1st to select 4 candidates for the 2011 – 2012 Rotary Year. Speaking of Ambassadorial Scholars, we have six incredible students who have either departed or will travel soon to begin their year abroad. Group Study Exchange and Ambassadorial Scholarships are two of the many programs funded through your donations to the Rotary Foundation. Details on the GSE Team & 2011 – 2012 Ambassadorial Scholars will appear in the September Newsletter. One of the highlights serving as District Governor is the opportunity to visit each Club & witness firsthand the amazing work carried out by District 7770 Rotarians. The tour began in North Myrtle Beach where Assistant Governor Elizabeth Smith, President Teddy Smith & I celebrated Teddy’s invitation to the District Conference (March 18 – 20, 2011 in Charleston). | |

| | Five Points President, Georgette Sandifer, is ready for another solid year of community service. Five Points has an active membership participating in their Club Fundraiser. Each Fall Five Points Rotarians donate countless hours parking cars at USC Football games in support of South Carolina ETV & other Club Charities. Five Points has also nominated two GSE Candidates for the upcoming trip to India. Unfortunately, Georgette was reprimanded & will serve a mandatory “Time Out” for referring to downtown Clemson as “BUBBAVILLE!” | |
