On 15 January 2013, Linda Gill, of Joy in the Mourning Center, spoke to the St. Andrews Rotary Club about their organization’s work in counseling individuals suffering from losses of all types. Linda is a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in grief and crises, and has been in private practice as a grief counselor since 2003. Having earned Master’s degrees in both Counseling and Nursing, she has over 30 years of clinical experience providing intervention for those who have experienced critical life losses and crises.

Linda works with any kind of loss including expected death; sudden, unexpected, or traumatic death; suicide; and losses related to living with chronic or terminal illness or caring for someone with these situations.

Linda founded Joy in the Mourning Center for Life Losses in 2002. Joy in the Mourning Center is a non-profit organization that has the goal of providing programs and people to help individuals and families return to the joy of living following important losses. The Center offers monthly grief support groups, as well as periodic grief recovery programs and training for those who want to learn to lead support groups. Linda also does public speaking and teaches programs for lay people as well as professionals who want to gain skills needed to help people who are hurting following the crises and losses of life.
