Anne S Walker

Anne has been a member of the Columbia Rotary club since 1988.  She served as President of the club in 1999-2000, after serving as a member of the Board of Directors for two separate terms.  In 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 Anne served as District Vocational Chair.  She served as District Secretary in 2003-2004 and was an Assistant Governor for Area 2 in 2004-2005.  In 2005-2006 Anne served as District Co-Chair of Membership.  Anne attended the 1999 International Convention in Singapore and the 2005 Convention in Chicago.  Anne is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a charter member of the Paul Harris Society, a Benefactor and a Ten Star Rotarian.  Anne is Executive Director of the Alston Wilkes Society and is a Certified Correctional Executive.  She is a graduate of Lander University where she is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees and she hold a Masters Degree from the University of South Carolina.  She has served as President of the following organizations/boards: United Way of Sumter, Clarendon and Lee Counties, Sumter YWCA, Sumter Forum, S C Probation & Parole Association, SC Association of Non-Profit Organizations, SC State Ethics Commission, and the International Community Corrections Association.  She has received the following awards:  2001 Woman of Achievement Award from Gov. James H. Hodges through the SC Commission on Women, the Linda J. Allen Award for Community Services from the SC Probation and Parole Association, the H Parker Evatt Award from the SC Association of Community Residential Programs for dedication to community services, the Outstanding Alumni Award from Lander University and in August 2006 she will receive a lifetime achievement award, the E R Cass Award, from the American Correctional Association.  Anne is a member of the Administrative Board at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sumter.  She is married to Rotarian David L Evans, retired school psychologist and Director of Special Services and the have a grown daughter, Sabrina Melissa, who is also a Rotarian.
