On May 3, 2016 the CART Fund awarded a total of $600,000 in research grants to five researchers. The CART Fund is dedicated to raising funds to provide “seed” money for cutting edge, high impact research in hopes of finding a cure/prevention for Alzheimer’s disease. Each year research centers from all over the USA submit applications for CART grants and the number and amount of the grants are based on the income received each year from any source. Every dollar donated to the CART Fund is used for research grants. The goal of the CART Fund is to provide financial support for the early and conceptual plans of projects that may not yet be supported by extensive preliminary data but have the potential to substantially advance biomedical research. These projects should be distinct from those designed to increase knowledge in a well-established area unless they intend to extend previous discoveries toward new directions or applications.
