The Rotaract Club of Coastal Carolina University was honored on April 26 at the University’s Annual Student Involvement and Leadership Awards Convocation with the presentation  of the prestigious “2016 Student Involvement and Leadership Awards Outstanding Philanthropy by a Student Organization”. Pictured are Club President Grace Cox (left) and Club Vice President Theresa Calabrese (right) who displayed the award at the Rotary Club of Carolina Forest Sunrise’s meeting. Over 200  CCU student organizations were eligible for the award, which was presented at the CCU Wheelwright Auditorium.. The Carolina Forest Club sponsors both the CCU Rotaract Club and the Interact Club of the Horry County Academic Academy located on the CCU campus.  Rotarian Porter Medley serves as Club Advisor, and was recognized as the ” 2015 Student Club Advisor of the Year” at the same event last year. The Rotaract Club works closely with the Carolina Forest Sunrise  Club on various projects, and its officers attend a monthly club breakfast meeting.  Theresa Calabrese will service as Club President in 2016-2017. The Rotary Club meets on Wednesdays at7:00 am at Beef O’Brady’s located in the Kroger-Carolina Forest Mall. Visitors are always welcome to enjoy a free breakfast and learn about community service opportunities consistent with the Rotary credo “Service Above Self”.
