Rotaract Club at Wateree River Correctional Institution. The Rotary Club of Lake Murray-Irmo, South Carolina, has partnered with SC Department of Corrections to organize a Rotaract Club within the Shock Incarceration Program located at Wateree River Correctional Institution. The Rotaract Club recently received its charter from Rotary International. The Rotaract program provides an organized club activity for members teaching leadership skills, character development, charity, and citizenship, while providing an opportunity to experience the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self” through community service activities. Members also have an opportunity to actively engage with community leaders who are members of the Rotary Club. Even though the club is new, it is actively engaged in two service projects. One was a food drive for the Sumter Salvation Army and the second is the regular cleaning and maintenance of the grounds of the St. Stevens Baptist Church and its adjoining cemetery.
