 Paula joined the Spring Valley Rotary Club in 1991.  Her Rotary Sponsor was Whit Anderson, now a member of the Rotary Club of Summerville.  Paula’s father the late Van Jones was also a member of the Rotary Club of Laurens for 32 years. 

Paula served as club President in 1996-97.  During her year as President the Rotary Club of Blythewood was chartered.   She served as GSE Team leader to District 2340 Sweden in 2004.  In addition she co-chaired the 1998 District Conference, has served as Assistant Governor, and Club Foundation Chair.

Currently she serves on the District Finance Committee, CART Fund, and District Foundation Committee.  A Ten Star Rotarian, she is also a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, charter member of the Paul Harris Society, and a Bequest Society Member. Paula is a recipient of the Rotary International Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service.

 

Professionally, she is a Certified Financial Planner and has a Financial Planning Practice in Columbia.  Paula is married to Ronnie Matthews.  They have two children and five grandchildren.

Ed joined the Beaufort Rotary Club in  1975 and served as president in 1978-79. He helped charter the Sea Island Rotary Club in 1980 and has served in various capacities, including many years as program chairman. At the district level he has served on the district conference committee, chaired the disaster preparedness and world peace committees, served on the district nominating committee and serves as Assistant Governor in 2010-11. Ed is a 10-Star Rotarian, Major Donor, mulitple Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of Paul Harris Society and the Bequest Society. He is a graduate of the Rotary Leadership Institute and was a polio NID volunteer to Nigeria in 2009.

Ed retired recently as the recruit uniform alterations contractor at the Parris Island Marine base, and he has been active in numerous community organizations, including 17 years as a member of the State Ethics Commission. He and Cindy, his wife of thirty six years, live in Beaufort, and they have two grown children.

LOU MELLO

Lou is a graduate of Ohio State University and raught high school and coached high school football and basketball prior to entering the Ocean Transportation industry.

Lou and his wife Teresa have lived in Mt. Pleasant since 1999 and he joined Rotary in August 1999. They enjoy sports, boating and travel.

Lou is a Past President of the Mount Pleasant Rotary Club, Club Foundation Chair since 2001, Assistant Governor & Foundation Advocate for the Area 8 Clubs, District 7770 PolioPlus committee member and District 7770 Paul Harris Society Chair.

Lou also serves as the Coordinator for the 14 other Districts in Zone 33 for the Paul Harris Society.

Lou is a Foundation Sustaining member, a Benefactor, a Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Bequest Society, a Paul Harris Society Charter member, a Major Donor and a Ten Star Rotarian.

Lou has also received the Rotary Foundation Trustee's Citation for Meritorious Service in 2007-2008. He was also recognized as the 2010-2011 District 7770 Rotarian of the Year.
