Bernadette Lee, a licensed practical nurse, spoke to the Chapin Rotary Club about the risks of Atherosclerois, or hardening of the arteries, which is the primary cause of heart attacks, strokes, and peripheral vascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in America, with more than 800,000 deaths in the U.S. in 2010.
She encouraged members to take advantage of several screening test available locally that can provide early detection of the disease. Ms. Lee is a member of the Rotary Club and major accounts executive with Advanced Diagnostics, Inc. She can be reached on (803) 419-4235 for more information.
