Rod Funderburk is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Lake Murray-Irmo, which was begun in 1989. He served as president in 1991-92. He was honored as Club Rotarian of the Year both in 2007 and in 2010. He has served on the District Website Committee, on the District Training Committee and as an Assistant Governor. Rod is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Paul Harris Society member, a Foundation Sustaining member, a Benefactor and a Bequest Society member. He is a Ten Star Rotarian and an RLI graduate.
After graduating from the University of South Carolina and serving in the U.S Navy, Rod had a 33-year career with Allied Chemical, Allied-Signal and Honeywell International retiring in 2005 as Global Energy Manager. He now serves as an independent energy consultant assisting companies with third-party procurement arrangements for various types of energy.
Rod is active in his church having served several terms as a Deacon and teaching an adult class for 20 years. He is also involved in a number of community activities.
Rod and his wife, Rowena, have been married for 39 years and live near Irmo. They have two children and five grandchildren. He enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.
