“Five Points Rotarians Distribute Dictionaries”
 
During the week of November 8-11th, members of the Rotary Club of Five Points distributed 167 dictionaries to third graders at AC Moore, South Kilbourne and Rosewood Elementary Schools. An initiative of the Club’s Literacy Committee, the “dictionary project” is an annual outreach effort to Five Points area schools.
 
“We give the children dictionaries to use as classroom tools and to also help reinforce the lesson of attention to detail,” said Buddy Wier, Five Points Rotarian and project chair. “The presentations are also a great opportunity to share with the children about Rotary, it’s history and objectives. The students loved getting their dictionaries, and they responded with great questions about Rotary. I know our club members enjoyed participating.”
 
The Rotary Club of Five Points was founded in Columbia in 1955 and is part of District 7770 of Rotary International. The club welcomes visitors to its meetings on Friday’s at 1pm at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center and also online at www.5pointsrotary.org.
 

Students at South Kilbourne Elementary display the dictionaries given to them by members of the Rotary Club of Five Points. Club members passed out over 100 dictionaries at elementary schools in the Five Points area as part of the Club’s annual “Dictionary Project.”

CONWAY ROTARY INSTALLS NEW OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS - JULY 2010

 

 

The Rotary Club of Conway inducted new officers and directors at a special meeting in July. Rotary District 7770 Governor Rick Moore conducted the ceremony as his first offical act as district governor for the Rotary year that began July 1, 2010.
