The Rotary Club of Carolina Forest Sunrise heard speaker Sandy Brown (left), Executive Director of the Grand Strand Humane Society described her organization's services at a recent meeting. She is pictured with Rotarian Elizabeth Howland (right) who introduced her. Staffed largely with volunteers, founded in 1972, the Society has a budget of $804,000, of which $230,000 is funded by a grant from the City of Myrtle Beach. The budget difference must be met by fund raising, a constant challenge for the Society which is comprised of two units : MB Unwanted Animals, and Preventive Medicine Clinic(T-W-F @ 8 am, alt. Saturdays at 8am). Of the 1000 animals received last year, over 800 were placed with families. Rotary club members presented Sandy with a variety of needed animal supplies. There is always a need for volunteers, supplies and cash donations.Sandy Brown can be reached at 843-918-4911.
