Photo by Ralph Jones Dr. Turner, a wellness expert and 2002 graduate of the National University of Health Sciences where he earned his doctorate, is also a graduate of Coastal Carolina University. Turner focused on Health Issues and the outbreak of Chronic Stress in our society--the number one cause of chronic disease and illness in our society. He stated that his goal is an empty medicine cabinet in every household. He reminded the club that there has been a 400% increase over the period 1994 to 2008 in the use of anti -depressants and that 1 in 10 Americans takes an anti-depressant. He proceeded to outline the basics of a healthy life style: diet, exercise, herbals, and the "practice of mindfulness" by taking "time to breath" via yoga, tai chi, and other actions. His presentation was well received by the membership.
