The Guest Speaker for The Rotary Club of Georgetown on 1/12/2016 was South Carolina native J. Edward Bell III, founder and senior partner of Bell Legal Group in Georgetown. He is an attorney, businessman, entrepreneur, philanthropist and a fellow Rotarian. He is the chairman of the board of Garden & Gun magazine, Garden & Gun Land, and The Litchfield Company.
Ed took over as President and part owner of the Charleston School of Law in October of 2015 and plans to move the school from a for-profit to a nonprofit model.
The Charleston School of Law was founded as a for-profit school in 2003 and received full accreditation from the American Bar Association in 2011. Ed does not yet have a timeline for making the school a nonprofit institution, but said, “The quicker we can do it, the better.” He has already bought an interest in the school and will serve as manager of the Charleston School of Law in addition to his role as School President.
There were many questions asked which indicates there was a lot of interest in the subject.
