The Rotary Club of Georgetown was founded in June of 1938 and has been active in the community for 80 year supporting many community activities to include Friendship Place, Shoes for school kids (known as Happy Feet) Christmas for Foster Kids, Bus Shelters, Alzheimer’s Research and many more all through the efforts of Rotarians and through our major fundraising, The Annual Shag Festival. This year will be our Twelfth Annual Shag Festival onApril 21st at King Street and Front. Tickets are available from any Rotarian or online at: GeorgetownRotaryClub.org
One of our major avenues of service is health, and that’s why we are here today to dedicate new Automatic External Defibrillators (AED’s) to the citizens of Georgetown and its visitors. In partnership with the City of Georgetown Fire Department, Rotary purchased the units which were installed in areas of peak activity and will be maintained by City Fire. These units are the first in the City to be installed outdoors available 24/7 in Marion and Rainey Parks. This is possible due to the environmental enclosure which protects the units against temperature and humidity.
Chief Cribb and Capt. Smith join us in dedicating these important devices to the City of Georgetown.
