On Thursday, Jan 26th the Spring Valley Rotary Club will “kick off” Rotary’s February Theme of Peace and Conflict Prevention by hosting a special Rotary speaker, Peter Kyle, who is the current Chair of the Rotary Peace Centers Committee. His full bio is attached.
Our club welcomes Rotarians from throughout the District to join us for lunch to hear Peter. We meet at Northeast Presbyterian Church located at 601 Polo Road in Northeast Columbia at 1 pm.

Peter was born and raised in New Zealand. After graduating with honors degrees in law and economics from Victoria University of Wellington he clerked for the Chief Justice of New Zealand and was then awarded a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship to pursue post-graduate studies in law at the University of Virginia in 1973. In 1992 he moved to Washington, DC to take up a senior position as an international attorney with the World Bank. He retired from the Bank 7 years ago. Peter was inducted into the Rotary Club of Wellington North in 1976 and has since served in a variety of leadership positions in Rotary Clubs in Manila, Auckland and Capitol Hill, (Washington, DC). He served as the Governor of District 7620 in 2013/14 and has chaired his District’s Alumni and Peace Fellowship Committees. At the international level he has chaired the RI Alumni Advisory Committee, served as the Co-Chair of the Rotary Foundation Alumni Celebration at the Bangkok Convention in 2012, chaired the Peace Symposium at the Sao Paulo Convention in 2015 and currently chairs the Rotary Peace Centers Committee. Peter has also served on various other RI and TRF committees and assignments. In 2010 he was honored with the RF Global Alumni Service to Humanity Award and he received the Citation for Meritorious Service in 2015.
