January is National Volunteer Blood Donor month

The Spring Valley Rotary Club has rescheduled their Red Cross Blood Drive for Tuesday, January 27 from 1 to 6 p.m. at Northeast Presbyterian Church located at 601 Polo Road in Northeast “The Red Cross urges donors of all blood types to donate blood. Each appointment made and kept, and each unit of blood given, offers hope to a patient in need and hospital patients in our community need blood,” said Stevie Johnson, Rotary blood drive coordinator. She added that donors need to be a minimum of 17 years of age and in general good health. Individuals who are 16 years of age can donate if accompanied by a parent. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Appointments will be honored and walk-ins are welcome too. For questions regarding donor eligibility, call the Red Cross at (803) 251-6000.
