Emily Dawes, a 2010 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar spoke to the Chapin Rotary Club about her exciting experiences as a Rotary Exchange Student at the American University in Beirut, Lebanon, where she received an MA in history. Prior to her Rotary Scholarship,Ms.Dawes had recently graduated from Purdue University and was a post graduate student enrolled at Al-Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. Following Beirut, she returned to the prestigious Moroccan University where she completed her second MA in International Studies and Diplomacy.
She was sponsored by the Lafayette Rotary Club in District 6560. Her host club was the Beirut Cosmopolitan Rotary Club and she was a member of their Rotoract Club.
She is currently an Adjunct Facility Member in the Midlands Tech Political Science Department and an ESL instructor at the Hammond School in Columbia.
