Chapin George McConnellThe antler arches that decorate the four corners of Jackson Hole’s town square have come to symbolize the town. Begun in 1954, the Rotary Club of Jackson Hole has funded initially building , subsequent rebuilding, and annual maintenance of the iconic arches. The arches contain thousands of pounds of antlers which are bought from the local Boy Scouts, who collect antlers from the Elk Refuge each year.

Deborah Smith, Founding Executive Director of the Newberry Opera House and fellow Rotarian, spoke to the Chapin Rotary Club about the exciting new 2013-14 season.
Ms. Smith has spent most of her professional career involved in the creation and management of regional arts centers, most of which were historic theaters.
In 1994, she was aggressively recruited by a Newberry citizens committee to spearhead the Newberry Opera House renovation project. Their ambitious vision became her mission, and she has not looked back since.

CHAPIN ROTARY CLUB CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC IS SET TO TEE-OFF !

Chapin Rotary President Barbara Seward says that the 18th annual Chapin Rotary Charity Golf Classic is almost here!  The tournament will take place at the Timberlake Country Club on Friday, September 14, 2012.  The shotgun start at 12 noon will feature four-person Texas Scramble teams.   Prizes will be abundant, including awards for first, second and third place teams, closest to pin, four longest drive awards and highest score.

The entry fee includes cart and green fees and dinner after play is completed.  Free beverages and snacks will be available during play.  There will also be many door prizes and every player will get a “ditty bag” of goodies.

The Chapin Sunrise Rotary Club is a service club that serves Chapin, the Greater Columbia area and through Rotary International, people all over the world.  The tournament is the club’s annual fundraiser, with all net proceeds applied to the service projects they carry out or support.  These projects range from awarding scholarships to local students to supporting ICRC Senior Program, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Chapin Community Youth Athletics and many other programs.

Chapin Rotary is seeking contributors, sponsors and players for the event.  Team applications have been rolling in and the club hopes to sign up a full 30 teams.  Parties interested in playing or otherwise supporting the event should call Thomas Hrica (803-603-7860), Eric Holcombe (803-260-5204), or Scott Hood (e-mail shood@hoodanddouglasconstruction.com) for more information and application forms. Entry applications and fees must be received by September 10, 2012.
