The Latta Rotary Club with partners Latta High School Interact Club and the Latta Schools completed their 3rd annual Happy Feet Plus project on 3/5/2015. They combined resources to provide $23,914.12 worth of shoes and clothing to students in need. Goodys department store of Dillon opened their doors to us once again for this wonderful project and we thank everyone that gave of their money and time to make this happen.
The Latta Rotary Club successfully completed its second Happy Feet Plus Project on Friday, February 28th. The project was funded by a $1500 Rotary International District 7770 Simplified Grant, $1500 from the Latta Rotary Club and funds raised by students in the Latta Schools facilitated by the Latta High School Interact Club and Student Council. Approximately 120 children from all four schools were able to receive a grand total of $21,946.52 in shoes and merchandise. The local Goody’s retail store agreed to open early to give us exclusive access to the store and also gave us a 40% discount on all merchandise so the net cost was $13,386.93. They are a tremendous partner in this project and we appreciate all of the extra effort they have gone to make it a success. With eleven Rotarians, lots of school volunteers and twenty students from the Latta High School Interact Club and Student Council we had plenty of help on-hand to ensure the operation ran smoothly. Students were able to receive 1-2 pairs of shoes and also accompanying merchandise such as clothing and accessories. We exceeded last year’s spending by over $5,000 and served ten additional children. It is amazing to have such an impact on just the second year of the project and we look forward to continuing to build on this success in the future
