The Rotary Club of Lexington recently awarded $17,000 in scholarships to five students in Lexington School District One. The scholarships are awarded after an extensive application and interview process and are paid for by proceeds from the club’s annual golf tournament and oyster roast. The Rotary Club of Lexington recently heard from Dr. Mick Zais, South Carolina State Superintendent of Education. Dr. Zais discussed the challenges facing education in the United States and South Carolina, while also providing practical solutions for many of these issues.
