WavesLogoThe Chicora Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach will present its second annual “Waves of the Future – Rotary’s Celebration of Horry County Schools.” It will be held at the Carolina Opry Theater on Sunday afternoon, April 6, 2014. We will showcase theatrical talents of children grades K – 12.

Our inaugural show packed the house and featured more than 700 students from 16 different schools. The shouting and cheering are still reverberating. Last year we raised $33,000. Our “fun-raiser” will again provide funds for the Fine Arts programs in the schools and for the many local and international projects which Rotary supports, including Polio eradication, the Dictionary Program and Project Happy Feet.

This event raises a lot of money and involves all club members in a great community activity. We would be happy to mentor members of other clubs, who would like to create a similar event. Contact Bill Greene 843 997 6915 for more information.

The Chicora Club of Myrtle Beach has invited Rotary International Vice President Anne Matthews to address our club at a weekly luncheon meeting on Friday, October 11 at 12:30.  She will bring us up to date on her travels and adventures, her goals and her accomplishments.  Clubs along the Grand Strand have been invited to join us for a special multi-club gathering.

We hope that our Dunes Club banquet hall will swell from our usual attendance of 50 members, to as many as 200, with Rotarians who would like to greet Vice President Anne and attend her presentation.  District Governor Lou Mello will be present.  We would like to extend an invitation to fellow Rotarians throughout S.C. to join us for this unusual event.

If you plan to attend, please reserve a place; send an email to Dr. Bill Greene at GUDOC96(at)HOTMAIL(dot)COM or call 843 997 6915.
