North Myrtle Beach Rotary’s guest speaker at the Tuesday lunch meeting was, author and member/Past President of the East Cooper Breakfast Rotary Club, Andra Watkins. Andra recently published a novel To Live Forever: An Afterlife Journey of Meriwether Lewis, published by Word Hermit Press.
To launch her book, Andra undertook the journey of walking the 444-mile Natchez Trace as the pioneers did, from Natchez, MS to Nashville, TN. She walked fifteen miles a day/six days a week, taking 34 days to finish her adventure. Andra shared the experience with her 80-year-old father. He would drop her off each morning and pick her up each afternoon along the Trace, spending his time talking with locals. It turned out to a be, in hindsight, a humorous and, in her words, “life-changing” adventure.

Friday morning’s breakfast meeting had the pleasure to eat and talk to the Seattle SuperSonics point guard and leading scorer of their 1979 NBA Championship team!! Mr. Gus “Wizard” Williams!! Great guy!!! Gus will be joining us at our Annual Golf Tournament on January 24, 2015 at Grande Dunes Golf Resort.
The Rotary Club of North Myrtle Beach is also happy to announce their Annual Spaghetti Supper is TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21st (5:30-7:30pm), at Ocean Drive Elementary School in North Myrtle Beach. Tickets are $8.00. If you’ve been with us before, then you know this evening is about more than spaghetti. There are games and face painting for the kids, silent auction items to bid on for the adults, and baked goods for dessert for everyone! The club is also pleased to announce the return of MINI-LEGENDS to perform during the evening. Last year we had many mini-stars from Elvis and Prince to Katy Perry and the Blues Brothers.
