Eighth grade Social Studies students at Cainhoy Elementary Middle School are embarking on an exciting adventure into their community’s past – thanks to a special donation of books on the history of the Cainhoy Peninsula provided by the Rotary Club of Daniel Island and the Daniel Island Historical Society. Representatives from both organizations, (Sara Cooper, Beth Bush and Bill Thielfoldt), visited the school on March 7 to deliver 30 copies of the book, entitled “Behind God’s Back: Gullah Memories of Cainhoy, Wando, Huger, Daniel Island and Thomas Island.” The students were each given a personal copy of the book, signed by the author, Herb Frazier. #Charleston #Rotary7770
