North Myrtle Beach Rotary’s guest speaker at the Tuesday lunch meeting was, author and member/Past President of the East Cooper Breakfast Rotary Club, Andra Watkins. Andra recently published a novel To Live Forever: An Afterlife Journey of Meriwether Lewis, published by Word Hermit Press.
To launch her book, Andra undertook the journey of walking the 444-mile Natchez Trace as the pioneers did, from Natchez, MS to Nashville, TN. She walked fifteen miles a day/six days a week, taking 34 days to finish her adventure. Andra shared the experience with her 80-year-old father. He would drop her off each morning and pick her up each afternoon along the Trace, spending his time talking with locals. It turned out to a be, in hindsight, a humorous and, in her words, “life-changing” adventure.
