A special moment between two long -time friends and fellow PDGS , Bob Squatriglia (left) and
David Michaux ,III (right) as Bob presented David with a suitably decorated post hole digger as a ” departing the District memento “. Bob and Betty Squatriglia are relocating from Conway (District 7770) to Fort Mill ( District 7750) next month, after nearly forty years in Conway and our  district. The move will place them within nmt 35 mins from their four children and 11 grandchildren in the DelWebb Carolina Orchards community.
Bob is Vice President Emeritus for Student Affairs at Coastal Carolina University, where he was known as “Dr.Bob”, and David is Past Director of Rotary International. The tool is suitably wrapped with a “Carolina Blue ” ribbon on the handles and a “Rotary gold” ribbon on the blades, also  denoting the “blue and gold of Rotary”. Squatriglia served as District Secretary to then District Governor Michaux in 1984 -85, and Aide to the Director to then RI Director Michaux in 2000-2002, and General Chairman of Michaux’s Zone 33-34 institute in 2000-1. Squatriglia served as District Governor in 1987-88. The inscription on the handle reads” to D 3, a P.H.D. from a Ph.D.”, (sic) a Post Hole Digger from a  Ph.D.( Dr.Squatriglia). Both PDGs always subscribed to the late PDG and PRID J.Lambert (Lambo) Schwartz credo of ” a Little Rotary and a Lot of Fun”-and this memento event  is in that same tradition of their dear friend and longtime mentor.
