2016 Rotary Southland Young Professionals Summit

Atlanta, GA June 10-11, 2016

Last weekend, over 100+ young professionals descended upon Atlanta who are committed to Rotary, passionate about taking action, and eager to connect with others who feel the same way. The Rotary Club of Summerville Evening is proud to have sponsored one of our aspiring young professionals, Dr. Thomas A. Taylor to attend the YP Summit. There were three individuals representing district 7770 and members from zones 33 and 34. According to Dr. Taylor, “we arrived at the Young Professionals Summit with lots of stories to tell about the positive change we’ve created in your club, our district, and our community.”  Young professionals lead by doing, and, regardless of what Rotary title they hold, they are people who inspire and mobilize others. Young professionals are the folks who think that a problem is an opportunity in disguise, and help other people to see the world that way, too. According to Dr. Taylor, “we had the tremendous opportunity to collaborate with other young professionals and identify realistic strategies that will better engage diverse young professionals in your community.” Special thanks to Ryan Clements and his team for organizing and hosting this YP Summit. The future of Rotary depends on our younger generations. We should embrace and support them, their ideas, their tenacity and willingness to roll up their sleeves and get involved. A few great quotes from the YP summit sums up their experience…

Change is a risk, it takes work and most change fails, but we must adapt to stay alive.”

“ If you’re not in a club that’s setting the world on fire then go to another club.”

“ Young professionals want to buy something, we don’t want to be sold on something.”
