In what may very well be one of the most moving meetings in recent history, the Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach paid tribute to the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our great nation.
Following the presentation of colors by cadets from Myrtle Beach High School’s Jr. ROTC, a panel of distinguished Rotarians answered questions and described their time in the military. Rotarian Barry Thigpen served as moderator and organizer of the event.
Lt. Col. James B. Kendrick, USAF (Ret.), who served with the 13th Air Force’s “Snooper Squadron,” where all missions were single aircraft night missions, talked about his experiences and the effect today’s technology might have on those missions. At the age of 100, Kendrick is the only living member of his squadron, and District 7770’s most senior Rotarian.
Those taking place in the program include Veterans pictured left to right: Barry Thigpen, Jason Greene, Steve Jones, James Kendrick, and BJ Maynard.
