Rotary Club of Chapin Sunrise
Recently Rotarian Ron Saxton of Chapin was honored with an award by the Rotary Club of Chapin Sunrise, called the “District 7770 Four-Way Test Award”. Rotary is an international organization that emphasizes “service above self” in community and international charitable efforts and stresses integrity in business and personal relationships, through its Four-Way Test. The Four-Way Test is a test of the integrity of the things that we think, say and do: first, it is the truth; second, is it fair to all concerned; third, will it build good will and better friendships; and fourth, will it be beneficial to all concerned.
B. Ron Saxton was nominated and recognized by his fellow Rotarians because he exemplifies these ideals of service and integrity. He has served the Rotary Club of Chapin Sunrise faithfully for years on the Board of Directors heading up their community service efforts. Within the club, he has been a reliable “go-to” person for the officers and virtually anything that the Club needs. Ron has personally made a positive difference to boys at Chapin Middle School through their mentoring program.
C. Ron Saxton’s background includes his retirement as a United States Army Infantry Officer with combat experience in Vietnam. Ron has collected and sent magazines and other reading materials to the troops in the Middle East, has supported collectively and individually, the wounded warrior combat veterans of the Gulf Wars. Ron’s announcements and testimonies to the Chapin Rotary Club about the needs and impact of these service areas have been an inspiration to others.
D. Ron Saxton’s advocacy and leadership as an operation coordinator with the Honor Flight program to take WWII and now Korean War Veterans to the memorials in Washington DC has brought joy and good will to so many Veterans and it has inspired many in our community to participate in honor flight as volunteers. His leadership and inspiration in the Honor Flight program has made a lasting impact on the Chapin Rotary Club collectively and on the individuals who have been fortunate enough to join him on one of these journeys. For these reason, the Rotary Club of Chapin Sunrise was pleased to honor Ron Saxton with the District 7770 Four-Way Test Award.
