Mary Jo grew up in New York, just outside of the city, and is the middle of nine children. After graduating from Penn State University, she followed in the “family business” and spent most of her first professional career in sales, leading national sales teams for various media companies. In 2012, she began her second act when she caught the entrepreneurial bug and launched a communications company in NYC. She then received her executive coaching certification from Columbia University.
Currently the solepreneur of MJR Coaching+Consulting, Mary Jo brings decades of valuable business experience to her individual, team, and corporate clients. She is known for her positive energy, passion for connection, and ability to see what can be. Partnering with Mary Jo enables coaching clients to turn their ambition into action.
Fun fact, Mary Jo attended the first Family Circle Tennis Cup here on Daniel Island when she was the publisher of Parents Magazine in 2001. Fast forward many years, Mary Jo moved to Daniel Island in 2016 with her husband Nick Pappas. She is blessed to have a blended family with five grown children, three of whom are married, and five grandchildren plus countless nieces and nephews.
Mary Jo is extremely grateful to be a Rotarian and part of the fellowship of Rotary International. With core values that include Connection, Service and Impact, Rotary gives her the opportunity to live her values every day. She is the current membership chair and incoming club president.
