Chad Vail was born in Charleston and raised in Summerville. Before graduating from the College of Charleston, Chad opened his first business, a Pretzel Twister bakery in Citadel Mall. Over the next ten years, Chad went on to develop, operate, and ultimately sell several small businesses, including 3 pretzel bakery locations, a coffee & ice cream store, and a neighborhood deli, all with tremendous support from his family. Chad also worked during this time in operational support and new location development for the Pretzel Twister franchise.
For the last 7 years, Chad has connected students with career exploration opportunities like internships and job shadowing serving as Work-based Learning Partnerships Coordinator for Charleston County Schools. Together with a team of 8 Career Specialists serving 80 CCSD schools and 50,000 students, Chad gets to help empower students with the practical life skills and experiences needed for future success in college & career. Chad married April Pace in June 1999 and by year’s end, they’d moved to Daniel Island to start their family. Now Chad & April have 3 wonderful children: Caroline, 18 is a freshman studying at Georgetown Univ., Claire, 16 is a junior at Charleston Math & Science, and Bryson, 13 is an 8th grader at Moultrie Middle. Chad joined the Rotary Club of Daniel Island not long after the club was chartered in 2001, and is thankful to have served as club president and several district leadership positions. Chad also serves on the board of “Be A Mentor” and supports Down syndrome awareness and education efforts like the annual Buddy Walk held at Etiwan Park. The Vails currently reside in West Ashley and remain close with their friends on Daniel Island. Chad loves to listen to Dave Matthews Band, play soccer, and travel with his family.
