Jim Morrill and his wife, Gail, and moved to Daniel Island in late 2003. After moving here, he became a board member for the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Mt. Pleasant. He also served as the Executive Director of the Charleston Animal Society for 3 years where he helped obtain the new animal shelter on Remount Road in North Charleston. In 2007, he joined the Rotary Club of Daniel Island. He found it a great place to meet similarly motivated individuals who want to give back to society. The motto “Service above Self” says it all. “We have more talent in the DI Rotary Club than many businesses and it shows when we want to accomplish something.” Jim has served in several capacities including Treasurer of the Club, Treasurer of the Foundation and Record Keeper for the Duck Race.
Jim and Gail have been married over 50 years and have 2 adult children — a daughter who lives in Charleston and a son who lives near Huntsville, Alabama. Jim enjoys golf, reading, working in the yard, traveling and volunteering. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a MBA from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) in Finance. He has worked for Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati and Ford Motor Company in Dearborn. Most of his career was with Mellon Financial Corporation in Pittsburgh, PA where retired as a Senior Vice President before moving to Daniel Island. In addition, Jim serves on the Grants Committee of the Daniel Island Community Fund.
