The summary of Daniel Island Rotary Club’s events for the month of September are as follows:
Daniel Island Rotary had an extremely busy and productive month, from hosting their first in-person meeting since COVID, co-hosting the Speaker Series, helping those in need in their community, and having a successful fundraiser,
September 2, 2020 – Jeff Leonard, Broker with Daniel Island Rotary Real Estate, was the weekly breakfast meeting held virtually shared with members that this was a banner year for real estate citing that Charleston has a lot to offer. Jeff also volunteered with the Cajun Army to help those on the gulf cart hit hard by the hurricane.
September 9, 2020 – The Club was back to business with co-hosting the Speaker Series held virtually. Jody Stallings, educator and writer, was the guest speaker and enlighted the audience as to his insights for improving the educational system.
September 16, 2020 – The Club meeting goes LIVE! The first meeting in-person since March was held, and Thomas D. Horan, English Professor at the Citadel who he spoke about dystopian literature.
September 23, 2020 – Members discussed how to meet the Club’s fundraising goal. George Roberts, Fundraising Chair presented slides as to where the Club was to date and the strategy to reaching the goal.
September 30, 2020 – Carl Wist, a founder of Jitterworks, was the weekly breakfast speaker held virtually and in person. Carl is “anything IT” and has worked for global companies as well as helping those neighbors in need.
Chad Vail was September’s Member of the Month! Ashton Lamb received his white badge, and Ashley Henyan joined the club.
Members helped serve food in the Cainhoy Community with ECCO and members brought gift cards to give to Doors to Freedom.
Drum Roll please . . . . Daniel Island Rotary Club raised over $100,000 in the month-long matching fundraiser!!!!!
