Gray Ives has been a Member of the Daniel Island Rotary Club since March 2, 2005 and he has served as Club Treasurer, Vice President, President and is a Paul Harris Society Member. Gray loves spending time with his wife, Kathryn and children, Grayham, Jr (who is attending The Citadel) and Lang (who is a Freshman Oceanside Collegiate Academy).
The Ives Family purchased their first home on Daniel Island in late 1999 and have great memories of raising their children on Daniel Island. Early on, there were many dirt roads to explore and travel. They have found memories of cooling off in the hot summertime with a soda and snack at Tecklenburg market. Lang spent her early years in Doodlebugs of Daniel Island, a boutique children’s clothing store Kathryn and longtime friend owned and operated. The Ives Family were part of the initial duck race and have fond memories of leading the Duck Navy and one year almost sinking their boat collecting stray ducks that made it past the finish line.
Earlier this year, the Ives Family moved to Isle of Palms where they enjoy walks and time on the beach. Gray enjoys playing golf and watching Lang play soccer and golf. She recently achieved a great feat making a Hole In One while playing at Lower States for OCA High School in Myrtle Beach in October.
Gray was born and raised in Camden, SC and graduated from The College of Charleston. He has spent the last 20 years in banking (five years at SouthTrust Bank (acquired by Wells Fargo 2005) and last 15 years as SVP with Regions Bank). Early in his banking career, he was a producer in homebuilder finance providing funds for developers and homebuilders to acquire, develop and construct product in the single-family residential sector across the state of SC and coastal GA. During the real estate downturn in 2006-2007, Regions exposure to real estate was among the highest of all banks and his role as producer quickly turned to disposition or reduction of risk in real estate. Gray was thankful to be in the right place at the right time, Charleston was one of the markets to rebound the fastest in the country. After almost completely reducing all real estate in the SC portfolio in a short period of time, he was asked to take on a larger role in the bank and for the past 8 years, where he manages the Note Sales of the commercial book for the entire bank’s footprint.
Gray enjoys spending time interacting and giving back to the local community that has been so generous to his family over the past 20 years. The Ives Family are members of the Mt Pleasant Presbyterian Church and serve on the Board of East Cooper Meals on Wheels. He continues to stay involved with the Daniel Island Rotary Club supporting club Treasurer and club service projects.
He is very honored to be a member of the Daniel Island Rotary Club!
