Originally from Massachusetts, Karen Riorden currently serves as president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce. Her role includes supporting the growth of our business community while also promoting the area as a year-round family-friendly tourist destination.

Karen discussed the impact that the Covid pandemic has had on the grand strand region and the chamber itself. She indicated that Myrtle Beach led the recovery in 2020 places people would visit, with website hits to visitmb.com increasing a staggering 400%. Karen also discussed the downtown redevelopment plans, with diversity equity and inclusion in mind, and where we currently stand in the process. She also discussed the increase in air travel to the region and stressed the importance of sustaining the community’s financial strength while remaining transparent to the public.

Karen is extremely involved in the community and enjoys giving back by volunteering with various organizations that help women, children and animal welfare. When she is not working Karen enjoys nice walks along the beautiful beaches of the Grand Strand as well as enjoying fresh seafood at local restaurants. Karen has one daughter and her husband Mike is a member of our club.  Their favorite sports team is the New England Patriots.
