The Rotary Club of North Myrtle Beach would like to thank everyone who recently attended our Annual Spaghetti Dinner. Thank you to Carrabba’s for their support and making the dinner, thanks also to sponsors BNC Bank and the Printing Port for their part in this year’s event. The money raised from the dinners, bake sale and silent auction will be used for community projects in North Myrtle Beach.

Following on the heels of the Spaghetti Dinner was the Rotary Club’s involvement in the CitiImpact/Meal Mania food pack-a-thon. The North Myrtle Beach Rotary Club together with the NMB High School Interact Club sponsored 3 teams to pack meals at the Sun News Warehouse. The two hour shift, comprised of our teams, local churches and other civic organizations packed 163 cartons of food or the equivalent of 39,120 meals. While these meals do go out internationally, some of the meals packed during our shift will benefit Shepherd’s Table in Conway. NMB Rotarian Gary Gaffney is one of the organizers of the CitiImpact/Meal Mania event and it provides a great opportunity to help the community and work together as a team.

For those Rotarians who didn’t get to participate in Meal Mania, we set up our own mini pack-a-thon at Tuesday’s lunch meeting. Through a grant, the Rotary District and the Rotary Club of North Myrtle Beach matched funds and went grocery shopping for non-perishable food items, putting together bags of food for Sea Haven’s Combat Hunger program. There were white shopping bags of food everywhere at the Surf Club on Tuesday, until we packed them up and delivered them to Sea Haven for distribution. Thank you to Boulineau’s for the donation of the bags.
For our next big project, the Rotary Club of North Myrtle Beach will be distributing bags in accessible North Myrtle Beach communities on November 20th. The morning of November 22nd, we will back out in those neighborhoods to collect non-perishable food donations which will be given to St. Delight’s Food Bank.
If you are in a gated community and we can’t access you to provide a bag, we would be grateful for any food donations that you can drop off at Carolina Family Dental, Prince Resort and Sandhill’s Bank (NMB location) through November 22nd. Your generous donations will help provide Thanksgiving Dinners to local families. Thank you again to Boulineau’s for the donation of the bags. Please remember to support the businesses that support your community.
