On Sunday, March 31, 2019, Chicora Rotary Club presented  their seventh annual Waves of the Future event. Waves of the Future is both a celebration and a showcase of amazing artistic talent by students throughout Horry County. This year‘s event was the biggest ever with 1188 students participating and a total of $40,101.68 raised through sponsorships and ticket sales. The Myrtle Beach Chicora Club was  excited to present a check for $21,379.71 to the Fine Arts Department of Horry County Schools at the March event. That is a total of over $80,000 donated to benefit students in Horry County. The remaining proceeds will fund Rotary Community Service projects like Backpack Buddies, Happy Feet, provide meals for the less fortunate, and the dictionary project.

Angelika Senn, Chicora Rotary President for 2018/19, said this is a wonderful event that brings the community together. The teachers and students are very excited about the Waves program, as are the Rotarians. This event would not be the success it is today without the continued support of our anchor sponsors; Lakewood Camp Resorts and Gilmore Entertainment, as well as the hard-working Chicora Rotarians. From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank all the sponsors and all my fellow Rotarians once again for making this year‘s event a huge success.
The Chicora Rotary Club would like to thank President Senn for her outstanding leadership as president and thank her for all the great accomplishments that she has achieved during her presidency.
