The Rotary Club of Carolina Forest Sunrise learned from guest speaker Professor Greg Geer (right) of the Coastal  Carolina University’s Spadoni College of Education  about five programs of study, including its newest program, the Masters in the Art of Teaching ( MAT) offered at the College. He noted that 70% of all teachers in Horry County have some affiliation with CCU: as graduates or currently enrolled in advanced degree programs. Of the 1,236 students enrolled in various 2015 Programs, 758 are undergraduates and 478 are graduates. He described the national shortage of teachers, the impact of Every Child Succeeds Act and Student Achievement gaps as public education’s greatest challenges. Pictured with Geer are: District Assisstant Governor  Drew Hansen (left) and Club President Cindy Gettig (center). The breakfast club meets the first and third Wednesday’s of each month at 7:00 am at Beef O’Brady’s restaurant located in the Kroger
Carolina Forest Mall. Persons interested in learning more about our community and opportunities to serve are cordially invited to join us for a delightful full breakfast.
