The Rotary Club of Little River and its Teen Angels Fund finished 2020 by spreading Holiday Cheer in the Little River Community.
Club members were engaged in signing and delivering holiday greeting cards to the residents of the Summit Place assisted living community and patients at Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Little River who could not have visitors due to COVID restrictions. While holiday cards were a poor substitute for in person visits, it did allow the club to let the residents and patients know that they were not forgotten this holiday season. The club also delivered trays of holiday treats for the staff to enjoy as a show of appreciation for all of their efforts during the pandemic.
The club annual Christmas Holiday party at the Little River Senior Center was cancelled due to the center closing due to the pandemic. While disappointed that the annual tradition would be missed this year, club members assembled stockings with treats and personal care items that were delivered to the seniors at their homes. And while these activities weren’t as festive as a holiday party would have been, the club members enjoyed themselves while stuffing all of the stockings and signing dozens of holiday cards.
The club’s Teen Angels Fund committee was also instrumental in bringing Holiday cheer to deserving students in the North Myrtle Beach schools attendance area. The fund committee provided holiday meals and gift card packages to students identified by their schools.
The club was also the recipient of holiday cheer itself when it received donations for both the club and the Teen Angels Fund from Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse in NMB was part of the proceeds from a fundraiser they conducted earlier in the fall. The Teen Angels Fund also received an unexpected but welcome donation from the Barefoot Caring Council and Barefoot residents even though the fundraiser they normally hold to benefit the Teen Angels Fund was cancelled. The club and the Teen Angels Fund are both grateful for these donations and are thankful for the support and generosity of our community.
Happy New Year from the Rotary Club of Little River as we look forward to serving our community in 2021!
