The Teen Angels Fund received a large donation of pre-packaged food and drinks from the Caring Council of Barefoot to assist homeless and disadvantaged students in the North Myrtle Beach school area. The Rotary Club of Little River supplemented their donation with additional pre-package food, drinks and gift cards that can be used by the students to purchase their own food, school supplies and personal care items.
The Caring Council of Barefoot sponsors events to raise money for the less fortunate in our community. In addition to Teen Angels, the council has supported many other local organizations including North Strand Helping Hand, North Strand Mobile Meals, NMB School Supply Drives, Angel Christmas Tree, Christmas Wishing Tree, American Red Cross and Books for Summer Reading.
Teen Angels was founded by Rotarian Renee Hembree to provide assistance to homeless and otherwise disadvantaged students in the North Myrtle Beach schools attendance area. Over the years Teen Angel has supported students with food assistance, school supplies, personal care items and transportation to dentist and doctor visits. In the fall of 2019, the assets of Teen Angels were transferred to the stewardship of the Rotary Club of Little River to continue its mission of supporting the needs of these students.
