Literacy is one of the seven areas of focus for Rotary International worldwide. The Rotary Club of Summerville has also made literacy one of its primary areas of focus locally this year through its “Gift of Literacy” initiative by establishing two “Little Free Libraries” in the Summerville area. Located at the Brighton Park ER and the TriCounty Link Park & Ride parking lot, the “Little Free Libraries” are a gift to the residents of Summerville to promote literacy. A third “Little Free Library” is planned this spring for the Summerville Medical Center. Books for the libraries were donated by club members and by a generous donation of 100 books from the Berkeley County Libraries. Members of the Rotary Club of Summerville encourages everyone to take advantage of these libraries by either stopping by and picking up a book or leaving a book to share with others. With books for all ages, interests and subjects there’s sure to be something for everyone!
