From District Governor Lou Mello
and Harriett Hilton, District 7770 RLI Coordinator
On September 20, 2013 the Rotary Leadership Institute will be held at South University in Columbia, SC. This one day interactive course at three levels is designed to enhance a Rotarian’s commitment, sustain membership, increase the base of knowledge about Rotary, and enhance leadership skills relevant for our organization.
Clubs are encouraged to select a candidate per RLI session and support registrations costs for them. Please give this information to your club members and encourage them to attend. In return your RLI participants return with stronger Rotary contacts, new ideas, and more dedication to the work Rotary can do.
Summary of each part is below. We will offer the facilitated, not lecture based, training twice a year. Participants have a choice of completing the entire RLI course in a year within our district setting or speeding up the process by attending sessions in adjoining districts.
All levels are held in the 8:30 to 4:00 time period. Registration and Breakfast begins at 8:00 AM. Lunch is also provided. Attendees take the three part course in order, one part per institute day. Part I centers around what being a Rotarian means, Part II focuses on effectiveness in your local club, and Part III blends techniques, collaborations, and programs to strengthen the Rotary journey.
Registration fee for the institute is $95 for Part I, $85 for Part II, and $75 for Part III. The RLI Zone site for registration is www. RLI33.org or http://
We have blocked rooms at the Columbia Courtyard Marriott I-77 with a special price of $94 including breakfast. Those wishing to come in the night before on Sept. 19 may call Courtyard at 1-803-736-3600 to reserve a room. This rate will only hold until September 2, 2013.
Have one of your members plan to be with us on Friday, Sept. 20 and hopefully the night before for fellowship and to meet the faculty. Dinner the night before will be a Dutch treat for enrolled participants at a nearby restaurant.
Thank you for your ongoing service and your willingness to encourage other Rotarians to become stronger leaders and Rotarians.
