Members of the St. George Rotary Club held its 4th annual OysterRoast on March 22nd, 2020 at the Historic Klauber Building in downtown St. George. The completely sold out event had everything from fresh saltwater oysters delivered from Beaufort, SC to the traditional Chicken-Bog to all types of appetizers and desserts, some of which were donated by the Interact Club from local schools. Interact volunteers were a huge part of helping set up for the entire event as well as tearing down. “It was great to see our local teens involved with their own community for such a great event that benefits their home town”, said President, Pinky Harriott. During the event, there were several fundraisers ongoing to keep spectators engaged. Local businesses donated door prizes, a chili cook off with a cash prize, a 50/50 raffle, as well as a silent auction throughout the evening. It was a great turnout despite the extremely chilly weather. The Oyster Roast contributes to the annual community service projects of the club. “It was a huge success and we are grateful to the community for always helping us give back”, said Pinky Harriott, Chairwoman of the event.
