The Vanlandingham Rorary Club of Hilton Head Island has selected its next major grant recipient – The Coastal Discovery Museum.

This Grant will provide $100,00 toward the retrofit of the Supervisor’s House into a Hands on learning center.

The Coastal Discovery Museum was established in 1985 with a mission to teach the public about the natural history and cultural heritage of the Lowcountry.  The Museum makes learning about Hilton Head Island and the surrounding region a fun filled experience for the whole family. The 1898 era Supervisor’s House will be upfitted to accommodate 30+/- students in a lab-like setting with microscopes, touch tanks and a variety of instructional stations including wall space. It is estimated that 7500 area students will utilize the learning center each year.

This grant follows the recent two year $75,000 grant that the Vanlandingham Rotary made to the Neighborhood Outreach Connection.
