The Rotary Club of Barnwell County recently received a $1,000 grant from the Greater Savannah River Community Foundation. The money will be used for the clubs SWIM program which offers introductory swimming lessons to youth in Barnwell County. Since the SWIM program was initiated over 14 years ago, there has not been a child-related drowning in Barnwell County.
Eight students were presented with “Service Above Self” awards from the Rotary Club of Barnwell County. Each month, students are selected by their schools and awarded by the Rotary Club for exemplifying “service above self”. The students awarded in March are (left to right) Kristin Seigler and Tykeisha Johnson of Blackville-Hilda High School, Myeisha Geter and Marquez Stroman of Williston-Elko High School, Madison Bates and Mackenzie Webster of Jefferson Davis Academy, and Bae McKinney and Nicholas Aguilar of Barnwell High School.
