25 Years Ago the Rotary Club of Charleston Breakfast started an annual fund raising party where we raffled off a car. This year we continue this “wheels” tradition with a golf cart. All proceeds benefit our charities. This year’s party continues the tradition and promises to be a fabulous time.

Long-time Rotarian, Whaley “Buddy” Hinnant Passes Away

Dr. Whaley R. Hinnant Jr., DDS, affectionately known as “Buddy”, was a Founder and Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Charleston-Breakfast (Est. 1982) who passed away July 4^th, 2015. Prior to helping found the downtown Charleston breakfast club, he was a long-time Rotarian with the Historic Charleston Rotary Club. Buddy was a true Rotarian in all ways for which it could be defined. Along with the many Rotarian friends who will miss him greatly, we will miss his smile, his laugh, and his willingness to always help out and get things done. Some of the Rotary accolades that Buddy was awarded over his many years as an active member include: Foundation Chair (20 years), Benefactor, Double Sustaining Member, Major Donor, Paul Harris Fellow, Past President, and Service above Self Awardee.

The Rotary Club of Charleston – Breakfast would like to invite you to the 2014 Rotary Wheels Gala.

This signature event will be held on Thursday, September 18th

from 6:00 to 10:30pm at Memminger Auditorium in Historic Downtown Charleston. Dress will be business casual. Your special night will

include an evening of fine cuisine, cocktails, amazing silent auction items, and one of a kind live auction

experiences.

We have partnered with Water Missions International, a nonprofit Christian engineering organization,

providing customized, sustainable safe water and sanitation solutions for people in developing countries

and disaster areas. In addition to Water Missions International, a portion of the money will also benefit

a number of local charities through an endowment established by our Club. In the past 10 years, our

Club has given in excess of $200,000 to support approximately 20 Lowcountry charities as well as several

international charities.

Rotary Club of Charleston Breakfast Awarded $80K Global Grant

On June 26, 2014 The Rotary Club of Charleston Breakfast received approval from The Rotary Foundation for a Global Grant in the amount of $80,159 providing 200 needy families with Healthy Latrines and Hygiene Training in the Huangala area of Sullana, Peru (District 4465). The Rotary Club of Sullana Capullanas is the Host Country Partner in Peru with Water Missions International a Cooperating Partner. The Rotary Clubs of Charleston (Lunch) and Myrtle Beach (Chicora) are currently working on separate Global Grants also supporting Water and Sanitation Projects.
