Monmonier Speaks to Rotary Club of VanLandingham
Joe Monmonier, Athletic Director of Hilton Head High School, recently spoke to the Rotary Club of VanLandingham. Joe was one of the first “shutdown” goalkeepers in Limestone College (Gaffney, SC) men’s lacrosse history and played for the Saints from 1993 to 1994 serving as team captain. As a senior in 1994, the Catonsville, MD native was a Deep South Conference all-star and was chosen to play in the prestigious North-South All-Star Classic. Joe offered a review of HHHS athletics and emphasized the outstanding academic record of the students across all sports. One of the duties of an AD is to continually raise funds to support the school’s athletic programs, recognizing that the school district is limited in the funds it can provide schools. Joe illustrated the point by relating that it costs $2,500 for every home football game, $650 for basketball games, and $350 for soccer games.
The All Sports Booster Club is a non-profit (401c3) organization of parents, coaches, staff and other interested parties whose mission is to enrich the Hilton Head Island High School athletic community at large by providing financial support for HHHS athletics. In addition to financial support, the booster club recognizes that participation in high school athletics benefits everyone, and the club promotes opportunities to build spirit and strengthen relationships among all involved: the student body, HHHS staff, parent and the community. The booster club meets the 3rd Mondayeach month and is attended by 35-40 members.

Prior to the induction ceremony inductee Michael Coleman gave a stand-up biographical introduction and why joining Rotary was a special event in his life. A very rousing story which was well received.
Induction Master Bruce Yeager did his usual outstanding job introducing each inductee and sponsor and charged the five new members to strive for full participation in VanLandingham Rotary programs and events.
