RI Vice President and District 7770’s own Anne Matthews continues to travel the globe in service to Rotary. Here’s an update from her latest appearance in Canada:
I spoke to “Women in Rotary”‘ in Edmonton, Canada, Thursday night at the Petroleum Club. This is Betty Screpnek with me. She is the Governor of D5370. There were probably 300 people at the event. All the youth groups were present and several men. Betty is an outstanding governor, well respected and this particular function was her idea. Great meeting with gracious, contributing Rotarians.

Recently, the Finance Committee had dinner in the Rotary One cafeteria. Rotary has a new service providing the food and the chefs cooked our dinner. RI Vice President Anne Matthews Attends District 3650 Conference in Korea
From RI Vice President and loyal District 7770 Rotarian Anne Matthews:
I am in Seoul, Korea, at Rotary District 3650’s Conference, representing President Ron Burton. They have over 1200 Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, and guests. This is the home of Trustee Chair D. K. Lee and fellow RI Board member Sang Koo Yun. It has been a great conference. So much graciousness and hospitality! I am sharing a few photos with my Facebook friends. The second photo is with a gentlemen who received the Service Above Self Award and I was asked to present it. In the third photo RI Director Sang Koo Yun is on the right. The fourth shows the flags representing Korea, Japan, United States and the District Flag. The district has a sister district in Japan and the governor and several Rotarians came to the conference.
RI Vice President Anne Matthews Visits Ghana
Rotary International Vice President Anne Matthews (and District 7770 Rotarian) is leading a team of South Carolina Rotarians to Ghana on a goodwill mission. Please enjoy her own narration of the trip.
In a village in Ghana where Rotary gave them wells for clean water . They gave Walter Hughes and me the very best they had. I got four guinea fowl and Walter got a goat. We were honored to receive them. I know you want to know what we did with them. We gave them to the next village we went to. And we bought several goats (about $32 each) and gave to kids in villages, as they asked for them. This is a livelihood for a family. This trip makes me value my blessings at home. I gave pencils to children who prized them. The children are beautiful and need so much. Ron Morton, a member of the Sumter Club, got to see a well being dug in Ghana. He and Andrea are on this trip to Ghana. Two ladies from the Eau Claire Club are with us –Benetta ( a past president) and Norma. Carrington and Barry also came along from the Florence Monday Club.
