summerville rotaryThe Summerville Rotary Club has a fine tradition of recognizing the Outstanding Teacher and Student of the Month. The Outstanding Teacher and Student of the month for October, 2013 are both from Alston Middle School in Summerville, SC.

The Outstanding Teacher of the Month is Genie Shaughnessy. Our Outstanding Student of the Month is Nicole Crum.

As part of Rotary International’s Vocation Service month, the Summerville Rotary Club had a company tour at Alcoa Plant in Goose Creek, SC in lieu of a Club Meeting on October 9, 2014.

Summerville Evening Rotary Club provided the following pictures from their recent “Rockin The Ville” Sock Hop, their “Random Acts of Kindness” RAK Community Service Project with Habitat for Humanity and Palmetto House in Summerville, and a few from from their recent Oktoberfest in partnership with the Summerville Oakbrook Breakfast club. The Rotary Club of Summerville – Lunch.  presented the Summerville Miracle League with a $5,000 check.  The money was raised through our clubs efforts with the Charleston Charity Duck Race in June.

Those in the photo are representatives from the Summerville Miracle League, members of the lunch club – Jaime Moore (club president), Frank Osage (incoming club president) Gene Hundley (past president), Tony Pope (Assistant DG), Brunson Westbury, Angela Vest, Linda Art, Don Nye, Phil Jones and Dusty Rhodes and  Brianna McNeal a member of our Rotaract Club at Charleston Southern University.

Each Saturday we have Rotarians at the Miracle League field volunteering with the kids.  What a warm and heartfelt event for our club.

DG Paula Matthews and DGE Lou Mello and their spouses attended the 6th annual Rotary Charity Duck Race in Charleston on June 2 – This event led by St. Andrews (West Ashley), Summerville, Daniel Island and North Charleston Breakfast Rotary Clubs raised over $100K for Charleston area charities and Rotary projects!
