The Surfside Area Rotary Club bestowed its highest award at our November 5th meeting. Dr. Jeanne Fourrier received the clubs annual Service Above Self Award. The award is given to someone in the Surfside area who has unselfishly given of their time and talent to the greater good. Since 1996 Dr Fourrier has organized groups of local volunteers who travel yearly to Haiti loaded with dental and medical supplies. Dental care including fluoride treatments as well as life saving procedures are administered to families who are isolated and without the means to get even the simplest of care. Her efforts as well as those volunteers who have joined her journey have impacted thousands. We are grateful for her service and honored to recognize her as an individual who epitomizes service above self.

Surfside Rotary Club Installs New Officers

The Surfside Rotary Club recently installed its new president, Scott Jordan (left) and installed four new board members. During the noon time luncheon at Wachesaw Plantation, Past President Verlon Wulf (right) reflected on the past years accomplishments including completion of another habitat house. A standing ovation was given to our past president in recognition of his strong leadership and dedication to our club. The club members were equally excited that the “joke telling” at the beginning of each meeting will hopefully cease to exist.
