The club first recognized its February Teacher of the Month: The wonderful Jessica Dorn of Cayce Elementary. Congratulations Ms. Dorn!

The club also recognized and celebrated its own, CWC Club Rotarian, Reverend Dr. Charles B. Jackson, Sr. This month, Dr. Jackson celebrates 50 years of pastoring Brookland Baptist Church, one of the largest member churches in the state of South Carolina. The church has over sixty ministries, a full service Federal Credit Union, the Brookland Foundation, the Brookland Center for Community Economic Change, the Brookland-West Columbia Community Housing Development Corporation, and the Brookland Community Pediatric Center which is a collaborative effort with the Eau Claire Cooperative.

Dr. Jackson shared part of the story of the “Miracle on Sunset”  and also shared how his friendship, a black Baptist minister, with Carroll McGee, a white Evangelical Episcopal priest, led him, not only to the site where his church now stands but more importantly, Father Carroll McGee introduced Dr. Jackson to Rotary in 1993. Dr. Jackson told how that friendship with Carroll McGee and joining rotary was a profound moment in racial healing and understanding for a young man who had grown up in a very divided south. It was a profound and moving message and wonderful that Rev. Jackson had the opportunity to share it doing Black History Month. Congratulations Rev. Dr. Charles B. Jackson, Sr. for 50 years of ministry and more!
